Formerly named Berner Platz (Swiss-German for Berner Place), this site is now called “Berner Tales,” because that’s what it is – stories about lovable, laughable, frustrating and sometimes life-saving things Bernese Mountain Dogs do to, with and for their humans.

Please don’t purchase from a pet store, a newspaper ad or an online site that looks good but probably won’t have health information about a puppy’s parents.
Having “papers” doesn’t mean a puppy’s parents passed tests for knees, elbows, hips and other conditions. Meet at the breeder’s kennel if at all possible, and ask a lot of questions or talk with someone who has an older one of the breeder’s dogs, not a recent puppy. A good breeder will ask you a lot of questions to be sure you’ve got what it takes to be a good Berner parent.
