If we can’t take our dogs with us, coming home is always a special joy because four year-old Brie shows us how much we were missed. When we open the door, she dashes outside, spins around, then runs back inside, careens off the furniture and grabs a toy on the way to our bed.
She jumps onto the bed and spins like a dervish, chewing on the toy, which is usually a stuffed rooster. Originally, the rooster “crowed” as she spun around, chewing it and activating its squeaker voice. Brie shares her toys, however, and her sister Bailey over-squeaked the rooster, which can’t crow anymore.
That hasn’t stopped Brie. She still leaps on the bed and spins a few times, then stops to make sure we are watching. Then she spins again, with the expectation that we will come over and give her belly rubs, which we do. She has trained us well.
